Trevor Hutchings joined the REA as its new Chief Executive on 1st July 2024 . He brings a wealth of experience in net zero, renewables and the clean energy transition. Before the REA Trevor was a Partner at international consulting group, BIP, leading their Sustainability Centre of Excellence, and before that led the growth and diversification strategy at energy services firm Gemserv (now Talan).

Trevor spent much of his early career in Whitehall and with the European Commission in Brussels working on energy and environment programmes, including policies to support the renewables market in the UK. He also worked at WWF, the global conservation NGO, where he was Director of Advocacy, focussing on improving public policy and environmental governance.

Trevor was chair of the Green Purposes Company set up by the UK government to safeguard the green mission of the world’s first Green Investment Bank following its sale to Macquarie, the global infrastructure investor. He is a Fellow at the Institute of Sustainability and Environmental Professionals, a Fellow at the Energy Institute, and holds the IoD’s certificate in corporate governance.
